TubeSolar launches far-reaching cooperation with green roof system manufacturer ZinCo

Augsburg, 21.04.2021 - The management board of TubeSolar AG (ISIN DE000A2PXQD4), manufacturer of innovative, tubular solar modules, has decided on a far-reaching, exclusive cooperation with the management of ZinCo GmbH, which will open up completely new possibilities for photovoltaic systems on green roofs. As one of the world's leading companies, ZinCo has been a pioneer and driving force for extensive and intensive green roofs for over 30 years.

In Germany, approx. 7 million square metres of roof surfaces are greened per year. This results in an annual market potential of approx. 200 megawatts for the German market alone, without taking into account already existing green roof areas.

Compared to the conventional, flat crystalline silicon modules, the neon tube-shaped modules from TubeSolar AG have considerable advantages:

Due to the cylindrical shape and the existing gaps, water and light radiation reach the vegetation below over a large area. In addition, the lightweight modules offer weight-specific structural advantages as well as a significantly smaller wind attack surface, which means that the elevation can be dimensioned smaller.

Reiner Egner, CFO of TubeSolar AG: "In addition to their use in agri-photovoltaics, our patented photovoltaic thin-film tube modules are particularly well suited for industrial and commercial roof systems due to their properties. Together with Zinco, the world's leading company for green roofs, we can offer potential customers completely new solutions for roof-mounted solar systems. "

Dieter Schenk, Managing Director of ZinCo GmbH: "Climate change poses significant challenges to cities worldwide, such as urban heat islands, local heavy rainfall events and declining biodiversity. Part of the solution for healthy inner-city ecosystems is increased green roofs. We have decades of experience in this. With TubeSolar's innovative solution, we can additionally use green roofs to generate electricity from solar energy without competing for space. A perfect symbiosis for people and the environment."

About TubeSolar (www.tubesolar.de)
TubeSolar AG has taken over the laboratory production of OSRAM/LEDVANCE in Augsburg as a spin-off and acquired the patents from LEDVANCE and Dr. Vesselinka Petrova-Koch. TubeSolar AG has been using this patent-protected technology since 2019 to develop and manufacture photovoltaic thin-film tubes that are joined together to form modules and whose properties enable additional opportunities for use in solar power generation compared to conventional solar modules. The technology is to be used primarily in the agricultural sector, spanning agricultural production areas. In addition, it will be used over large areas on commercial and industrial roofs. In the next few years, it is planned to expand production in Augsburg to an annual production capacity of 250 MW.

About Zinco (www.zinco.de)
ZinCo GmbH offers sophisticated and permanently safe systems for green roofs and utilisation of the roof landscape, for combining green roofs with solar technology as well as systems for fall protection. As one of the world's leading companies, ZinCo has been a pioneer and driving force for extensive and intensive green roofs for over 30 years.
