Publication pursuant to § 43 para. 2 WpHG

Maruho Co. Ltd., Osaka, Japan, and Maruho Deutschland GmbH, Leverkusen, Germany, (together the 'notifiers') informed Biofrontera AG on 14 May 2018 pursuant to § 43 para. 1 (2) WpHG about the following:

Depending on further market developments, the notifiers are currently considering acquiring or otherwise obtaining a limited number of voting rights in Biofrontera AG within the next 12 months. Until a definitive decision on such an acquisition is made, the notifiers will closely monitor further market developments.

Apart from that, the objectives pursued by the notifiers with their current investment in Biofrontera AG remain unchanged:

- The notifiers pursue a long-term strategic investment in the issuer.

- The notifiers are currently not seeking to exert any influence on the composition of the administrative, management or supervisory bodies of the issuer.

- The notifiers are currently not seeking to make any material changes to the issuer's capital structure, in particular with regard to the ratio of equity and debt financing and the dividend policy.
