Working hand in hand to protect children online: Philion and SafeToNet start cooperation
- Joint deployment of the award-winning child protection app "SafeToNet
- Personal consulting around the app in the "ibuy" stores of the Philion Group
Berlin, 27 February 2020 - Philion SE (ISIN: DE000A1X3WF3), one of the largest network-independent mobile service providers in Germany, and the award-winning technology company SafeToNet are now acting as cooperation partners. And this for an important reason. Parents today are faced with the great challenge of giving their children access to a smartphone and the digital world, while at the same time protecting them from risks on the net. SafeToNet has created a solution in the form of a unique app that protects children without intruding on their privacy. This is exactly the right product for Philion as a network-independent service provider for digital products with more than 180 mobile phone stores and a rapidly growing online business. Together, the companies will now offer parents and children broad access to the app and actively contribute to increasing child protection in the digital world.
The cooperation between the partners includes the joint provision of the child protection app in Germany, which will thus be available nationwide and via a wide variety of sales channels (App Store, branch, online platform) in the future. In addition, the Philion Group's ibuy stores offer the opportunity to receive personal advice on the functions and application possibilities of the app at their own SafeToNet security counters. The official start of the cooperation is this week in numerous ibuy stores in North Rhine-Westphalia. Among others in Bochum, Dortmund, Essen, Gelsenkirchen, Hagen, Hattingen, Neuss and Soest. In the course of the year, the consulting services for protecting children in the digital world will be extended to all stores of the Philion Group. In addition, both partners are planning to launch exclusive offers for families and children and to work together to promote child protection in the digital world.
"As one of the largest network-independent mobile service providers in Germany, it is a matter close to our hearts to protect children and young people from dangers on the net," says Michael Rohbeck, Philion CEO and family man. "The SafeToNet app offers the best conditions for this. It helps parents to protect their children without invading their privacy. Children, in turn, can learn to interact with social networks and the digital world in a safe way.
Gottfried Werner, SafeToNet CEO for Europe, Middle East & Africa emphasizes: "Unfortunately, bullying via social media has become an integral part of our society. Those affected often lack the courage to talk to parents or confidants about their problems. They are desperately looking for a way out. The SafeToNet app helps children not to get into this situation in the first place. Through the cooperation with the Philion Group, we facilitate access to the app, can provide personal advice and thus make a decisive step forward in protecting children in their digital environment.
The SafeToNet app is a unique app with artificial intelligence that makes chatting and surfing safer for children in real time. It is installed on parents' smartphones and their children's smartphones. By distinguishing between parent and child mode, each with different functions and assistance, children are safely accompanied without controlling the privacy of the adolescent. The app is available for EUR 29.99 per year in the ibuy stores of the Philion Group and on handyflash.de. In the ibuy stores parents can get comprehensive advice on the product.

About Philion SE
Led by Board Chairman René Schuster (former CEO of Telefonica Germany), the management team of Philion SE looks back on decades of experience in the international telecommunications market and has set itself a clear objective, i.e. to build up a leading network-independent service provider for all digital telecommunications products with the help of an effective buy-and-build strategy. In this context, Philion acts as a listed holding company and pursues an omni-channel strategy for its subsidiaries to combine the advantages of online commerce with the benefits of personal in-store service. The first steps were the takeover of Fexcom GmbH at the turn of the year 2017/18 and the investment in DEINHANDY at the end of 2018. The planned takeover of the OBS Group (ibuy, handyflash.de) is a consistent continuation of this path. This means that the Group now has more than 180 mobile network stores and a fast-growing online trade throughout Germany.
